The greens here are outstanding – quick, smooth and a real joy to putt on. Fairways are just as impressive, well kept and part of a layout that feels fair but still challenging. The course design makes every hole interesting and fun to play.
The pace of play was great throughout the round, and the friendly staff add to the welcoming vibe. With the solid conditions and reasonable green fees, the bottom line is simple: Ballantrae offers great design, great conditions, and is definitely a place you’ll want to return to.
The food at Fireside Grill is worth the drive up the hill to Ballantrae. The view is amazing out the wall of windows overlooking the fairway and the patio. If you work remote, it is a wonderful place to take your computer, grab lunch, and work with a phenomenal view. Best secondary office location around!
This golf course is approximately 15 minutes off I-65. If you’re driving anywhere close to Pelham, Alabama do yourself a favor and stop by. You will not be disappointing. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better golf course for the price they charged. (Approximate $50). It was wonderful experience. From the Teebox to the greens everything well-maintained, and then excellent condition. I’ve spent a lot of money over the years playing expensive and shoddily maintained golf courses around the US, this, by far is one of the most scenic and beautiful courses I’ve played in Alabama. What a great experience. Can’t wait to come back.
Great course! Great staff! Visited on a weekday, drinks on the patio, bucket of balls to start with and then to the course. Haven’t played in 2+ years, haven’t even picked up a club but the course played very well. No rush and once I warmed up shot in the low 90s. Not from the tips but not from the ladies either. Not a lot of water or sand, fairways decent width. Greens changed throughout the day from slow to not so slow so take that in mind. Will return!
Gorgeous, semi-private club. This course if located in the midst of a residential golf community. It’s a beautiful area and both the clubhouse and course are top notch. The greens aren’t too big and they’re very fast. They have a great mix of par 3s, par 4s and par 5s.
